If it is determined at triage that the client would require more specialised support.
Do not have a GP registered in Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham or Doncaster.
If you are unsure about any of the referral criteria please contact us to discuss this further.
Support for those who experience an ARFID presentation will usually be in a group setting and is available to anyone from 11 up to the age of 25.
The referral form asks you for a bit of information about the difficulties you are experiencing. Once this is submitted someone from our clinical team will look through the information. We may contact you to discuss the referral before offering you an appointment for an assessment.
At an assessment someone from the team will meet with you to discuss what has brought you here and discuss what may be helpful. This is a collaboration between us and you to help you to find the most suitable source of support at that time.
At the end of the assessment we can discuss together whether we feel SYEDA is the most appropriate service for you, and if this is the case, you will be offered the most appropriate support.
Please note at the point of referral and/or assessment we may recommend that you are referred to an alternative service should we feel that your referral doesn’t meet our criteria, and we feel that an alternative service would be best to support your needs.
We also work closely with GPs and therefore we have a duty of care to contact your GP following referral and/or assessment to monitor your physical health.
We are a confidential service, but should we feel that you are at immediate risk of harm, we would need to break this confidentiality and contact the relevant organisation.
All clients are welcome to use our open access support services, without the need to refer or be referred. These include; self-help support groups, telephone / email information and advice, book lending , drop in facilities, website downloads.
