We know that the earlier someone gets help, the sooner they can begin their journey to recovery. We also know that for this to happen, it is critical that individuals, families and professionals understand about eating disorders and how to support someone with issues around food, body image and exercise.
This is what is behind SYEDA’s Prevention and Early Intervention Service, which has two strands:
● Training – We raise awareness of issues people may experience that are associated with food, body image and exercise; how to support people experiencing these issues and where to get further help. This training is available to professionals such as GPs, school staff, other mental health charities, younger people’s services, as well as community groups and can be delivered online.
● Community based therapy – We deliver 1:1 and group therapy in schools and community settings for anyone aged 11+ who is experiencing issues we can support them with.
You can get involved!
We are looking for groups and organisations to work with as part of this service.
Do you know of a group who supports people who may benefit from 1:1 or group therapy?
Do you work or volunteer somewhere that would like to receive training from us?
We’d love to hear from you. To chat to us about this service, please contact Abbie.
